What does graded or non-graded trading cards mean?

Graded cards refer to cards which have been certified by a professional grading service like BGS or PSA. Cards submitted to these grading services will be authenticated, sealed in a clear plastic holder and assigned a grade based on several criterias such as condition of corners, surface, edges as well as card centering for bordered cards. Graded cards sell at higher prices than non-graded cards, which are 'raw' cards pulled straight from packs.
