How do you open a successful business of trading cards? Any advice?

I want to open a business that sells different kinds of trading cards (baseball, football, etc......) are there any specific ways to opening one, and where do I get my inventory?? I'm only in high school at the time but I feel that this is what I would like to do in my life......And also what should my major be in college if I want to open my own business?? Thanks!

Nice question, and if you wanna startup your own business regardless of doing trading cards, you should definintely go into Business Management or Entreprenuerialship (Which is normally a part of Business Management). About the trading cards, Im in college and really cards have been suffering. However, I worked in the rare coin industry and that worked (I know boring!). I also found out theres a grading company for trading cards, so if your cards are in excellent condition and you have some rare ones you should send those into a grading service so the former price will almost certainly rise. If you can find a way to market cards like they were 10 years ago where everone got them and wanted more you should come up with a really unique way to get them back into becoming interested. Hope this helps

Reply:Try obtaining your cards on Ebay, I bought some once for like 10 cents per hundred... not too bad huh? It depends on how bad someone wants to get rid of them. I would also suggest that you major in Business Management.

don,t do the retail thing you will loose but if you must it will always be location location
Reply:The trading card industry has taken a huge hit over the past decade due mostly to eBay. I suggest, if you are sure that a sports trading card business is what you want to do, work with eBay and open an online business.
Reply:nobody does tradin cards now you should probably pick something else.
