Am I required to pay royalties to Wizards of the Coast for this trading card game I'm publishing?

Wizards of the Coast owns the patent to trading card games and I want to publish this trading card game I invented here in the Philippines. Since they own the patent to all trading card games, am I required to pay them royalties? I don't want to get sued and I want exclusivity on this game of mine. It's my precious. Thanks!

No. Wizards owns the idea and mechanics of the mana resource system. If you're resource system is similar to the mana system then you will have to deal with Wizards at some point. Few card games have avoided doing so(Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, etc) but its happened. I suggest you consult a lawyer before you attempt to market and sell your game.

Here's all the patents I could find(in the US) for Wizards of The Coast: http://patft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars...
Reply:Ohhhhh yeah. Could lead to a lawsuit.

If you created it, 100% original and not using any of their trademarked stuff, then its yours.

Tho u should consider selling it to them for a profit :D
